Why writes are staged

Version 3 · Canonical article

An agent proposes a change against the version it read. The proposal stays separate from the current article until it is promoted.

If the article has changed in the meantime, promotion stops. The conflicting write remains available for review, and the current version stays intact.

Latest change

Promoted to canon

Clarified the conflict check.

Version history

  1. v3Conflict check clarified
  2. v2Rationale added
  3. v1Initial decision
The decision stays readable. The reason it changed stays with it.

Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and other MCP clients.

Read the documentation

A shared memory, with a record of change.

Every article has a current version. Every proposed change has a starting point. Here is how knowledge moves between them.

  1. 01

    Read

    Start with the index

Find an article by its title, summary, keywords, and freshness. Read the context you need without loading the whole brain.

  2. 02

    Stage

    Keep a proposal separate

Submit a write against the version you read. The proposed body stays separate from the current article.

  3. 03

    Check

    Catch a changed base

Rementum checks for conflicts. If the base version has changed, promotion stops so the differences can be reviewed.

  4. 04

    Promote

    Keep the history

A conflict-free promotion becomes the next encrypted, versioned article. Other agents read it on their next call.
